FAQ

WHAT IS HANDCRAFTED/HANDMADE SOAP?

Soap is a combination of water (liquid), lye (sodium hydroxide) and oils.  When the lye solution is mixed with oils, it causes a chemical reaction called "saponification".  The result is 3 parts soap and 1 part glycerin: which is desired for it's ability to moisturize the skin.

Properly handmade soap contains NO LYE in the end product.  You cannot make real soap without lye.  No Lye = No Soap

What's in your handmade soap?

Ingredients that are in our soaps can be found on our blog.

Do you test on animals?

We do not test any of our soaps on our animals. We use our Goat Milk soaps on our Horses and Dog as their shampoo.

Do you use any animal products in your soaps?

All of our soaps contain Goat Milk from our own herd of goats

What are "superfatted" soaps, and are yours superfatted?

Superfatting means that a certain percentage of oils have been left unconverted by the lye.  This is done by discounting the amount of lye in our recipe.  It leaves extra moisturizing oils in the soap for your skin to use along with the naturally occurring glycerin and ensures a safe, milder bar of soap.

I have sensitive skin - Will I be able to use your soap?

Absolutely!  Most likely, you will be able to use our soaps because they are incredibly mild and gentle.  Most commercial soaps are detergent based, using lots of synthetic ingredients that cause skin reactions. If you have allergies to fragrances, try our Unscented

What products do you recommend for eczema?

While this is the #1 question we receive, we want to first remind everyone that we cannot make any medical claims, give medical advice, or suggest that our products cure or “heal” eczema. Eczema is a very complicated skin issue and there can be many different causes that are unique to each individual. Switching to all-natural products isn't always going to do the trick and.
But we will always encourage you to check out our Unscented Goat Milk Soap as this bar is extremely gentle on all skin types. After washing, we recommend following up with our Unscented Goat Milk Lotion to help seal in moisture and keep your skin hydrated all day long.

What's the size of your soap?

All of our soap bars are between 4 and 7 ounces. Each listing will list the size of the bars.

How long does a bar of your soap typically last?

A 5 ounce bar of soap should last about 3-4 weeks depending on how frequent you shower and if you allow the bar to dry out between uses. Placing your bar on an elevated soap dish will prolong the use of it.

How long does your Soap stay fresh?

Our soap stay good for years. In fact soap is similar to wine and that it gets better with age. It will last longer and be milder. Although, time could affect the intensity of the fragrance. If you store soaps in a cool, dry location they will last longer.
